In these difficult times, our thoughts are with all the people in the tourism industry who are affected the most as a result of the undertourism that we are experiencing at the moment and probably the coming months. Our heartfelt support also goes out to everyone else who is affected in one way or the other by the Coronavirus pandemic, especially the vulnerable groups.
As a result of the Coronavirus outbreak from overtourism we ended up having no tourism at all, and indeed, the Tourism Industry will most likely never be the same. It would be beneficial, however, to see the opportunity in this situation and start thinking about the post coronavirus era of Cyprus Tourism. The Cyprus economy depends on tourism and we need to address the industry’s comeback in order to mitigate the negative economic and social impacts that will result due to this unprecedented pandemic.
CSTI is eager to work closely with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and All of You, since Sustainable Tourism is now more important than ever and it needs to be on the top of every agenda of all the stakeholders including the government, the parliament and the private sector. Once travel is resumed, CSTI’s role will become vital in leading the way and we encourage the hoteliers, the restaurant & bar owners, the travel agencies & tour operators, the car hire and bus companies, the educational institutions, the producers and the communities to join forces with us in our effort to promote & implement more responsible and sustainable practices. This way we will secure the future of Cyprus Tourism for the generations to come.
We would like to thank you for being part of our team and we are confident that together we will make it through this challenging situation and make our island an Even More Sustainable & Responsible Destination in the Mediterranean.
