During the European Conference on Sustainable Tourism — Celebrating 20 Years of CSTI Leadership in Sustainability — held on 27 February 2026, the event served both as a celebration of CSTI’s two decades of work and as a call for stronger action to accelerate sustainability in tourism.

Our Executive Chairman, Mr. Philippos Drousiotis, delivered a short presentation on the Retour Project, outlining its vision to empower SMEs in the Mediterranean tourism sector to become more resilient to crises, seasonality, climate change, and geopolitical developments by enhancing innovation, cross-border cooperation, and skills development.

The conference was organized by the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) to mark the 20th anniversary of its activities and brought together more than 300 participants from Cyprus and abroad, including two European Commissioners and representatives from the Deputy Ministries of Tourism of Cyprus and Greece.

The event was held under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and served as a platform for dialogue on the challenges and prospects of sustainable development in the tourism sector.
